CATTLE TRUCK OVERTURNS, CLOSES I-64 IN INDIANA.  FREED COW(S) HIT BY SEMI TRUCK

CORYDON, Ind. (WISH) – Cattle roamed a major interstate near Corydon, causing Indiana State Police to close down 13 miles of roadway.

Early Thursday morning, ISP were called to an accident on I-64 at the 101-mile marker.

A cattle truck had overturned, and cattle were freed to roam.

WLKY News, in Louisville, reported Thursday morning that nine cows were walking freely around the accident site when one of the cows was hit by a semi.

Indiana State Police said they shut down the interstate between 92-mile marker and 105-mile marker for three hours to round up the cattle. As of 7:45 a.m., I-64 was still closed.

The driver of the cattle truck was taken to nearby University of Louisville Hospital. His condition was not released.

It is unclear whether more than one cow was injured.
