4 police officers have been hurt when two squad cars crashed while chasing a stolen car in the Tiny Village neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago early Sunday morning.

The two police SUVs smashed into each other about 3:35 a.m. close to the intersection of 26th Street and South California Avenue, stated Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

The 10th Police District officers got into the accident whilst responding to a stolen automobile in the location, Greer stated.

Two officers had been transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, and two other people had been taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County for remedy. Their injuries have been non-life-threatening, Greer mentioned.

Shortly soon after the two squad SUVs collided, the stolen vehicle crashed into one more police car or truck in the 3100 block of South California Avenue, Greer said.

No one was reportedly injured in that collision, Greer said, citing preliminary info.
Two offenders, who had been in the stolen automobile, were taken into custody, Greer mentioned.

At the scene of the first crash, two police SUVs stood with their front sides mangled behind yellow crime scene tape on the southeastern corner of the intersection of 26th and California, across from the Cook County Criminal Courthouse.

A worker was sweeping away pieces of broken glass, metal and plastic that peppered the intersection.
