1 WORKER DEAD IN MIDDLETOWN, CONNECTICUT INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — A man has died after an accident at an industrial plant in Middletown Friday morning.


At 8:45 a.m., police and fire crews responded to a call of an accident at Kloeckner Metals, inside the old Primary Steel building on Newfield Street.  The building address is 760 Newfield Street, Middletown, CT 06457. Officials said that workers were moving pieces of steel inside the building when the accident took place. The workers were loading steel onto a truck. No other details of how the accident occurred have been made available.


The victim was transported to Middlesex Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of family, but officers tell News 8 that the man was 43-years-old. No one else was hurt in the accident.


Middletown and state police, along with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are still conducting their investigation.
