FIRE AT A UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT APARTMENT COMPLEX EXTINGUISHED

Fire at a utah state university student apartment complex extinguished

An off-campus Utah State University student apartment complex caught fire this morning. Logan firefighters were able to put out the blaze before it spread throughout the almost-vacant building. The cause is still under investigation.

One occupant was evacuated from Aggie Flats, located at 729 East 900 North, but no one else was home because students are away for the holidays, according to Logan Fire Department PIO Craig Humphreys.

One unit is “at a total loss,” Humphreys said, while four other units sustained “water damage.” No other units were harmed, he said. There are 18 units total that make up the complex.

The Logan Fire Department responded to a possible fire at around 8:10 a.m. this morning and upgraded it to a “working structure fire” shortly after arriving on scene. Flames were coming out the back window of a third-story apartment, Humphreys said, and they were extinguished.

The Logan Fire Department told The Herald Journal it would likely have more information later today. An investigation is ongoing.
