WOMAN HOSPITALIZED AFTER BEING BROADSIDED BY DUMP TRUCK IN IOWA

ANAMOSA, IOWA

      An Anamosa woman was taken to the hospital Jan. 14 after a dump truck broadsided her SUV near the intersection of Old Cass Road and County Road X-31 north of Anamosa.

      Judith McNamara, 55, of Anamosa, was injured and taken to Jones Regional Medical Center, according to an accident report released by the Iowa State Patrol. The report said McNamara’s life was saved by her seatbelt.

      The accident happened when a 1991 International dump truck driven by Ralph Newell, 78, of Olin, ran through a stop sign when he was traveling east on Old Cass Road, according to the report. McNamara was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Tracker north on X-31, and the truck broadsided her.

      The accident is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
